Other musical services - bands for all occasions

We can supply a range of other artists to complement the Laughing Jacks for your function, wedding or corporate event. Details are below.

Echoes Music Roadshow

As well as being the Resident D.J. at Linden Hall, Mike Watson's company supplies disco entertainment for events large and small, all over the North East.

Dusk 'til Dawn Ceilidh Band

Tony Corcoran Ceilidh Band

Dusk 'til Dawn's electro-acoustic sound is well established on the North-East ceilidh scene. We offer a high energy blend of traditional and contemporary tunes from the British Isles, Europe and America that leaves dancers exhausted and whooping for more.

Sax and the City logo

Sax and the City (right) is an established professional instrumental duo that features Keith Robinson on saxophone, and Tom Cartmell on keyboards. They present an accessible range of lively pop and light jazz music, for weddings, birthdays, christenings etc. To enhance their performance, they often use pre-sequenced rhythm tracks as well as their live instruments to give a fuller sound and the impression of a larger band.

Sax and the City is a compact outfit and is ideal for venues that are not licensed for larger bands, or where space is limited.

Graham Wood

Wedding car

We can also supply a Bentley Turbo R for hire for your special day. It would certainly add a touch of class, with its dark blue metallic paintwork, cream leather and personalised registration.

For more details, and to arrange hire, please go to the Wedding Lists page of our partners, Bob Crosby Agencies.

The Jazz Guitar Duo

David Borthwick

Janet Bennett

Judith Musgrave

A soprano soloist, adding the personal touch to both church and civil ceremonies. Judith (right) has an extensive repertoire, ranging from traditional, sacred and operatic, to popular or jazz, as appropriate.

German Oompah Band, great fun and ideal for theme nights and corporate parties.

Sax and the City

Graham Wood: solo pianist

In his own words:
During the twenty-four years of my professional musical career, I have been fortunate to have had the opportunity to act as musical director for many pro stage musicals, including 'Canterbury Tales', for Cleveland Theatre Company, and 'Godspell' for Stage Further Productions. I have provided music for TyneWear Theatre Company, Northern Stage, Zenith North, BBC, and many other clients.

These days, I am taking more of a leisurely role within the music industry. I produce music for radio commercials that are heard throughout the country, and can be booked privately to entertain at the piano with selections of instrumental music by George Gershwin, Cole Porter, Rogers and Hammerstein, Michel Legrand, and many more. I enjoy my music - I hope you do too'.

James Birkett and Rod Sinclair Jazz Guitar Duo

The James Birkett/Rod Sinclair Jazz Guitar Duo (left) was formed in 1997 with the express purpose of rediscovering and recreating some of the most influential guitar music recorded in the 1920s and 1930s. In particular, the duo has been drawn to the acoustic guitar repertoire of jazz and blues artists such as Eddie Lang, Lonnie Johnson, Carl Kress and Dick McDonough.

Much of this music seems to project a very positive energy and spirit which the duo attempts to extend through their interpretations of a variety of 'standards' in their concert programme. Find out more at www.jazzperformance.com

The David Borthwick Trio

Originally from Edinburgh, Dave (pictured left) has become established as one of the region's top Jazz guitarists. Since moving to Newcastle in 1994 he has worked with the Voice of the North Jazz Orchestra, the John Warren Octet and the Lewis Watson Quartet, and recently formed his own trio with Mick Shoulder (Bass) and Paul White (Drums). Dave has strong connections with Laughing Jacks, appearing with both the full band and doing regular gigs with the vocal, piano and guitar lineup

Janet Bennett

Janet Bennett (pictured left) is a renowned harpist and singer, who has delighted audiences world-wide with her music and songs. These can be used as part of a wedding ceremony or as background music during drinks or a meal. Find out more at her new website www.janetbennett.co.uk.

Judith Musgrave

Paul Croft

Classical guitar player Paul (pictured left), plays both 6 and 10 string guitars and is widely regarded as one of the leading players in the region. His repertoire ranges from the lute music of the Renaissance to contemporary Latin-American styles.

The intimate nature of the guitar makes it the ideal instrument for many events, its evocative sound being particularly suited to romantic occasions such as weddings and anniversaries.

Ruth Lambert - Jazz vocalist

Ruth, pictured left, is available to work in duo, trio or quintet formats. For more information and free demonstration CDs, contact Richard Rutherford - details below.
